2 Cooks Told Me "Don't-Do-It" But I Made "Burnt Chicken Bread" Just To Be Cantankerous

Thanks for Voting on My "Copywriting Battle Book Part #1"

Dear Friend,

I wanted Advice about Putting Fried or Baked Chicken In Bread.

So I went on a Cooking Forum. Shared my "Sledgehammer Brussel Sprouts..." Recipe.

Then Asked, "What Do You Guys Think of the idea of adding Fried or Baked Chicken to a Bread Machine Recipe?"

REPLY #1 -- "I've been thinking of making mustard flour and roasted onion bread, but chicken bread doesn't sound so good. How about chicken empanadas?

REPLY #2 -- "Seriously, that was a funny post, thanks for the laugh. And no, no chicken in the dough.

REPLY #3 -- "If you really need ( pun intended) to use the bread machine, I would remove the dough before the bake cycle and then add the ingredients....and shape and bake.

ME -- Wow. Is it just me or does Reply #3 Sound a Bit Superior? Stuck up? What I didn't tell these ladies is I AM A Bread Baking EXPERT. When it comes to Baking Yeast Bread I can Hold my own.

But -- Did You Notice?

Nobody said..."I Tried it. And It Sucked."

So I Just Baked Some "Slightly Burnt Chicken Bread In My Bread Machine."

And.

Drum Roll Please.

It Tastes Fantastic. Just Like I Hoped. Kinda like a chicken Sandwich. And with Melted Butter on Top. Delicious.

Cold out of the Refrigerator? I just ate 2 Slices with Butter on top before going out to split wood. (Don't Laugh. 30 Degrees Here in MD, May 12th) Still Great Tasting Bread -- even Cold. I am keeping it in the Crisper Drawer in The Fridge.

If You Wanna Try it too -- Here is My Recipe:

INGREDIENTS -- (Simple but Great Tasting)

One Large Skinless, Boneless Chicken Breast

==========

DIRECTIONS --

To Cook The Large Boneless/Skinned Chicken Breast -- I Tossed it in a Caste Iron Skillet. Medium High. Covered it with a lid. Cooked it in it's own Juices. Set The Timer to 30 minutes. Flipped it every 1/2 Hour. Until the Chicken liquid cooked away. And The meat was Browned on both sides.

(Editors Note -- I Got Distracted and One Side Got a Little Burnt. But that didn't hurt the taste at all.)

Let It Cool.

Use a Large Knife. Slice it up. Then Dice it in smaller Pieces. (Kind of Interesting Sound Effects. Pretty Crunchy. I discovered the meat came apart While Slicing. So I Just LEANED on the Knife and Chopped Down Thru.)

Toss The Ingredients into the Bread Machine in the following Order:

1 1/3 Cup Water,

Diced Chicken,

2 Tblespn butter,

2 Tablespoons of honey,

4 1/2 cups of Flour,

2 Tspns of Yeast.

Hit START.

Add Extra Bread Flour -- Little by Little -- as it mixes. Until when you touch the Ball of Dough -- your Fingers do not stick. (Said differently -- The Bread is not STICKY.)

Then let it rise again. (The machine does all this for you.)

My Finished Bread was Quite Brown.

Crunchy on the outside.

So I Wrapped it in a dish Towel until it cooled off some. Then Sliced up a couple Slices and Put butter on top.

YUM.

Best to let the Bread cool inside the towel. So the Crust Does not get any Crunchier.

Thanks,

Glenn
